The Incident version 1.2 will be submitted to the Apple App Store for approval within the coming days, bringing with it an extensive list of updates and fixes at no extra cost, according to Matt Comi and Neven Mrgan, creators of the popular 8-bit game.

In The Incident you play as Frank Solway, “a regular guy who finds himself having to avoid the sudden, unstopping rain of everything in the world.” In order to survive, you must avoid falling items whilst climbing higher in order to reach the “kitchen-sink shower” source of all this madness. It’s as crazy is it sounds, with everything from Smart cars to the Easter Island statue falling towards you. The universal game, which is built for iPhone and iPad natively, has been featured by Apple and awarded 4.5 stars by 148Apps.

The upcoming update includes some notable extras, such as the provision of a Controller Mode that allows users to play the retro game on their iPad, using the iPhone as a controller. In addition, the release will provide an official Game Center Leaderboard on an all-new game mode, Endless Nightfall, allowing you to directly challenge your friends’ top scores even when you aren’t together. On top of all this, there are 53 new items ready to fall on you, as well as a number of new sounds and an improved in-game menu. A number of bug fixes are also included in the update.

If you havent yet played The Incident, you can pick it up for $1.99 by following the links below. For more information, see the official site here or watch the embedded video below.

Full list of new features: New game mode: Endless Nightfall; Game Center leaderboard: Endless Nightfall scores are sent to Game Center; remote control: control your iPad using an iPhone or iPod Touch; 53 new items (including 3 items drawn by guest artists); new power-up balloon in Endless Nightfall; access options without returning to the main menu; added music to the Twitter screen; Escape Bubble must be recharged between uses; new sound for pipe objects; various bug fixes.

Motorola Defy

Mobile Phone | Wednesday October 6 2010 3:22 pm | Comments (0)

Motorola have announced a new phone, the Motorola Milestone aimed at the adventurous individual and it is a real toughie. Motorola Defy might be also in the Android smartphone segment, but that is where all the similarities with its competitors end as this can do some incredibly stuff, which other phones can only dream of. The Motorola Defy is built to take on any kind of environment.

It is easy to see why toughness is easily the best feature of the Motorola Defy. Motorola has given this phone a Corning Gorilla glass and hence it is dust resistant, water resistant and provides scratch and impact resistant for those occasional bumps and drops. As a result, the phone can be kept in water for up to 30 minutes.

As the Motorola Defy focuses on toughness, it hasnt omitted other high-end features. The touch screen display is a big 3.7-inch edge to edge WVGA screen and the phone has Android 2.1 operating system. It has DLNA support offering great connectivity with various appliances that you may have in your home and there is a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus for great looking pictures. Music lovers can also love the Defy as you can get songs online straight on to the phone and Motorola has over 70,000 apps with which you can improve your phones functionalities and hence make the best out of this phone.

The Motorola Defy is yet to be launched in the United Kingdom market, although Motorola is planning to introduce it with various service providers. The expected launch date for the phone is thought to be around later this year. The prices for the Motorola Defy are still unknown, although given the recent past, Motorola should price this phone very competitively offering a stiff competition to the fragile phones of today.

I have to say I am thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying using the trial BlackBerry Torch that RIM sent me the other week. I wasn’t sure if I’d take to the double-UI (i.e. the touchscreen along with the physical keyboard) but I have to say, I’m finding it something of a revelation.

Initial reactions:
- I like flipping the keyboard up to use — it feels very satisfying
- I like the fact the keyboard is much thinner than on my Bold 9700 — it feels easier to grip
- I rarely use the touchscreen to enter text
- I like using the touchscreen in combination with the keyboard — e.g. I’ve found it quicker to delete messages using the touchscreen ‘X’ rather than using the physical keys
- BlackBerry OS 6.0 is a lot nicer — I like the nice transitions and I like what they’ve done to the browser and the email system (brought it into the 21st Century)
- I love the one-touch access from the home screen to the WiFi/Bluetooth/Operator status — very convenient
- The message summary page (that lists the latest emails, appointments, chat messages, twitter messages and so on) is brilliant, really brilliant
- I really do feel like a connected mobile warrior with the Torch
- The super-app integration is simply brilliant (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) — so much so that I’ve actually been using the native apps more
- It’s hugely satisfying when using a phone … because of it’s size — I always like a phone that at least meets my mouth rather than looking like I’m talking into my hand

I’ll do more on it soon.

(Meanwhile you can pick one up from Vodafone UK today.)
