Why can’t I just say ‘yes’, Mr AA?

Look at this. Totally flipping ridiculous. The AA have decided to send me this marketing message. I don’t have a problem with it per se, I did opt-in to receive messages.

My problem is the call-to-action. They want me to phone them. Phone? You mean, like, with a voice? ;-)

Why can’t I just hit reply and type ‘yes’? Why do I need to phone up The AA call centre? I can’t be bothered. I don’t have time to give my life story to a (no doubt very nice) call centre agent.

But I would have agreed to the offer if I could have either typed ‘yes’ or visited a secure mobile web page to tape ‘yes’. But phone? And quote a reference? Get with the programme, AA!

I’ve just taken delivery of 3UK’s next generation Mobile WiFi hotspot unit, the Huawei E585. This second edition even better looking than the first edition — boasting a nice new integrated display and enhanced hardware. How will it perform? Well, I know 3 has one of the fastest data networks going so I have high expectations. I will let you know!

The Old Course – Just In Time For The Open Championship

With Tiger Woods fresh off his 7 over par, first round performance at the J.P. McManus Invitational Pro-Am in Ireland, it’s about time to start thinking about The Open Championship. St. Andrews, the Home of Golf and Cobra Mobile are releasing today the first golf game on the iPhone based on the famed St. Andrews golf course, where you can go out and relentlessly beat Tiger Woods score… over and over again.

The Old Course is complete with a “unique top down touch-and-swipe controls, beautiful graphics and addictive game-play” as well as a bluetooth multiplayer system for you to take on your friends. As you’ll see from the screenshots, it’s not exactly on the same “you are the player” level as Tiger Woods for the iPhone, but with some standout gameplay, it could be an entertaining experience.

The game went live today for 99 cents. Check out some more screenshots after the break.
